Gravity FSX

Gravity FSXDefy Gravity, On A Budget!

Today we’re looking at the Gravity FSX from Bikes Direct. While it enters in at upper level of the budget category, we think this one belongs in the entry-level performance category for it’s solid component set,  great, modern frame, and a forgiving full suspension that will leave you looking for tougher and tougher trails.  Sporting an adjustable coil over cartridge and and advanced suspension fork with adjustable preload, and some snappy Tektro Novela mechanical disc brakes on a truly under-rated frame, and you have a real winner in the sub $500 category. The basis for a good bike starts with a good frame, and Gravity FSX starts out well.  They’re using a  Custom Formed 6061 Aluminum frame with hydroformed tubes and a solid, stylish shape.  Their components are largely Shimano, with a few Suntour Components thrown in for good measure, making it comparable to similar bikes at $500 dollars or above.  We really like this bike at this price, and think it’s a good choice for people looking for a solid entry level bike without the $500 + price tag.  Check it out by clicking the link below!

Gravity FSX Specs

The Gravity FSX starts out strong, with a nice 6061 Aluminum custom formed frame.  The hydroformed tubes, combined with the Cantibeam link are a nice touch, and offer a substantially more beefy frame than your typical bike in this price range.  The suspension fork, is suntour, and preload adjustable so you can hone in on exactly the performance you want.  The rear suspension comes from KS, and sports a nice coilover with another adjustable preload.  The crankset is also from SunTour, and sports aluminum arms which supply solid power transfer.  The pedals are Beartrap MTB with a metal cage, which are better than many bikes in price range.

Gravity FSX Components

There are a lot of Shimano components in this build, with Shimano making up the Derailleurs, Shifters, Cassette, and Brake Levers.  Those components, in order are; Shimano FD-M190, and Shimano Acera,  SHIMANO ST-EF51 24 SPD with EZ Fire Trigger, SHIMANO MegaRange 8 speed 11-34T, and the Shimano ST-EF51.  These are some solid components from a dependable brand, and are easily replaced should something fail.  The rims and tires are a good pairing, with a Maddiux DX221, double wall 6061 T6 Aluminum rim, and a MultiTread 26×2.1 inch tire.  The rim features stainless steel spokes, which while a little heavy, offer good strength and resilience.
